The Benefits of Pasture-Raised Pigs

Riverview Farms believes in practicing sustainable farming and animal husbandry.

As farmers, it is our duty to tend to the land our animals spend their days on. It is our responsibility to ensure they are taken care of and live happy and fulfilling lives.

Riverview Farms honors the natural behaviors of pigs. We cultivate the land to produce healthy, high-quality meat.

Why Our Process Is Important

Pigs are naturally social animals and are susceptible to stress. Raising pigs in confinement on conventional farms can lead to highly-stressed pigs.

Pigs living in unsanitary conditions are at higher risk of becoming ill, requiring a regular dose of antibiotics mixed into their feed. The overuse of antibiotics can lead to a plethora of health issues due to the pig developing antibiotic-resistant pathogens.

Our pigs live a stress-free and happy life, spending their day rolling in dirt, mud, and grass, foraging, and roaming freely in pastures and woodlots. They are able to socialize with each other, and have constant access to food, water, and shelter.

The Benefits of Eating Pasture-Raised Pork

Aside from superior flavor and texture, there are a few benefits from eating pasture-raised pork.

Our pigs experience significantly less stress than pigs in conventional farming settings, which enhances the flavor, texture, and overall quality of the meat. Many of our customers have commented that our pork has a much richer, more satisfying flavor than the bland, factory-raised pork you find in supermarkets.

Our pigs also consume a healthy diet that makes them rich in omega-3 fatty acids. They have more micronutrients such as Vitamin E and selenium.

When you buy pork from Riverview Farms, you can expect to consume animals that lived their lives closest to their natural habitat.
